THE APPROACH TOWARDS QUALITY ASSURANCE

Induction of new equipment/system and procurement of stores are involved activities steered by Integrated Headquarters, Ministry of Defence (Navy) (IHQ MoD(N)) and other Order Placing Authorities (OPA) under Command Headquarters. The equipment and systems intended for installation onboard Naval ships are required to be manufactured to the stringent Naval specifications. Directorate of Quality Assurance (DQA) with its Field Units are entrusted to provide QA cover during the process. Quality Assurance commences with the formulation of qualitative technical requirements, which are reflected in Request For Proposal (RFP)/ tender enquiries. Defence Procurement Manual (DPM) and Defence Procurement Procedure (DPP) mandates Director General of Quality Assurance (DGQA) role at technical/ contract negotiation stages and post-contractual activities. Our quality assurance programme should be aimed at providing evidence and establishing confidence about product quality. An objective assessment of product quality on aspects of quality and reliability is one of the major functions of Quality Assurance.
